GREETINGS, EVERYONE! We want to extend Christian sympathy to a family in our community, John and Renee Baker, whose youngest son, Daniel, passed away last week. Graveside services will be held at Bethel Cemetery this morning at 10 am. A memorial service is planned for next Saturday, April 30, at 5 pm at Hopewell Baptist Church. Our men know John and his older sons through the MACH 4 men's ministry, and the family have Baker Auto Repair in Maysville.

THE LORD'S DAY (4/24):

  • Scriptures for Sunday. As we move into the season of the church calendar traditionally known as "Eastertide," Here are the Scriptures we will be reading that will shape our corporate worship. Take a few moments to read and meditate on them. Also, we have seven different Scriptures in our morning worship, so they make a great resource for personal or family worship Sunday through Saturday. Click anywhere on the link to see a printable version of these passages on biblegateway.com

  • SJBA Semi-Annual Meeting, today at 4 pm. Join us for this worship gathering of our sister churches as the St. Joseph Baptist Association gathers at Frazier Baptist 4.5 miles west of Gower. Our messengers are Kyle and Sue Bridgman, Randy and Mary Morrow, Gary and Louise Dean, and Lorrie and myself. We will take care of necessary business and hear an inspirational message from Dr. Rick Hedger, Multiplying Churches Director for the Missouri Baptist Convention.

HOUSE FIRE BENEVOLENCE
Thank you all who gave to help the family in our community whose house burned last week. Lorie Scott is organizing a clothing and monetary drive for the family. You may also ask her about what may be most needed at this time. Bring items to the church and place them on a table in the foyer. Other household items may be needed in the future. Monetary gifts can be brought to the church office as well. A Go Fund Me account has been set up for them, and you can access that on the Maysville Market and Maysville Discussion page on Facebook, hosted by Josie Kilgore.

READ THROUGH THE BIBLE The Five-Day Bible Reading Plan is attached to this e-mail for your convenience.
You may want to access additional resources to support your reading available at this website.
BONUS: My apologies to any of you who tried to link to the MBC Historical Commission webpage last week. I was missing a letter in the address. Here is the actual webpage link baptistparchments.org
Regarding GRADUATE BREAKFAST AND RECOGNITION on May 1, please let us know if you have a graduate to invite to the breakfast or recognize that is not a senior at Maysville High School by Wednesday, April 27.

If you would like to help with the breakfast that morning (preparation, serving, or cleanup), please see Marsha Smith or Judy Hardin, our special hostess committee, as they are putting the team together this week.

And remember: Everyone is invited to join us for breakfast that morning, so come on out and support our graduates.

See you in church!

Grace and peace,

Pastor Greg

GREETINGS, EVERYONE! This week, a family in our community experienced a house fire. No one was hurt, but most of the things inside were either lost to the flames or damaged by the water. It took several hours to get it under control. They were able to get their three small children's clothes, a few toys, and a child's headboard out of the house before the fire spread to the downstairs. Lorie Scott is organizing a clothing and monetary drive for the family. The following items are needed:
  • Womens size 2 jeans and small shirts; size 7 shoes
  • Mens 32x34 jeans and large shirts; size 12 shoes
  • Size 4 diapers
  • A few toys for the children

Bring items to the church and place them on a table in the foyer. Monetary gifts can be brought to the church office as well.

Ukraine Relief. Thank you for your gifts to provide humanitarian aid to refugees fleeing Ukraine for Poland, Romania, and other bordering nations. You have given $1150 so far!

TODAY (4/16): EASTER CHILDREN'S PARTY, immediately following the city Easter egg hunt. All children through 6th grade are welcome to attend with their parents. Egg hunt, candy, and a clear Gospel presentation, beginning at about 10:30 am at the church. A brief video presentation of the Gospel will follow the egg hunt. TUESDAY (4/19) I will be in Jeff City attending the Missouri Baptist Historical Commission spring meeting. One of the things the commission does is award scholarships to our three Baptist universities, Missouri Baptist University, Hannibal-LaGrange University, and Southwest Baptist University. Students attending or preparing to attend one of these institutions have the opportunity to write a paper on some aspect of Missouri Baptist history. The commission awards a $2000 scholarship for the winning paper for each school as judged by the commissioners. Last year, 18 papers were submitted representing all three schools. This year, only three were submitted, all from SBU. Pray for the nine commissioners as we seek to make a wise decision on the award. GREETINGS, EVERYONE! Today is a busy day with several things going on. Here is what's happening:
  • Gary Hall Memorial Service. Family meal at 11:30 am; Visitation at 1 pm; Service at 2 pm. Potential for a large crowd of attendees, so plan for a few minutes of walking time if you need to park off-site.
  • Midland Main Event, grades 6-12, meeting at 2 pm on the Post Office parking lot across Main Street from the church in deference to those attending the memorial service. We will be going to the Midland Center in St. Joe for the first part of the event, then to Shawnee and Incredible Pizza for indoor go-carts, bumper cars, laser tag, arcade and pizza! This is going to be lots of fun, and the Gospel will be shared clearly. Estimate arriving back by 10 pm.
  • MACH 4 Men's Ministry at 6 pm in the Fellowship Hall. All men and boys are invited to attend for a great meal, fellowship and inspirational devotional.

TOMORROW: This Lord's Day is known as "Palm Sunday" or "Passion Sunday" on the traditional Christian calendar. "Palm Sunday" acknowledges triumphal entry into Jerusalem on the foal of a donkey while the people waved palm branches and shouted "Hosanna to the son of David! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!" The term "Passion Sunday" is used in the sense of Christ's passion (suffering) and death on the cross of Calvary as our substitute, atoning for our sins with His own body as the sacrifice. Tomorrow we will remember Jesus' death by observing the Lord's Supper. I encourage you to be present as we hear the Gospel preached and see it put on display in the ordinance of the Lord's Supper. Please take time to prepare your heart to receive the Lord's Supper by engaging in self-examination. Some starter questions to use for self-examination are attached to this email. We will also receive a benevolent offering which is administered by our deacons to serve the needs of our church family in times of extreme need, unforeseen circumstances, or crisis. Please pray and ask God how He would have you to give to this offering.

THE LORD'S DAY (4/10)
  • ANNIE ARMSTRONG EASTER OFFERING FOR NORTH AMERICAN MISSIONS. Thank you, church, for your generous gifts! Our church goal was $1200, and you gave $1521, over and above expectations. More than 2200 Southern Baptist missionaries in the US and Canada benefit directly from our gifts. For more information on how your gifts are utilized, visit anniearmstrong.org/your-gifts-at-work.
  • Bible Study for All Ages, 9:30 am. There is no better time than the present to join a Sunday morning Bible study. Age-graded classes from nursery through high school plus four non-age graded classes for adults are available. Come on out and bring the whole family!
  • Worship Together at 10:40 in the Sanctuary. Sermon subject will be "The Crucified Messiah" from Luke 23:26-56, where we see Jesus speaking four times along the road to the cross and while hanging on the cross.
  • Scriptures for Sunday. Here are the Scriptures we will be reading that will shape our corporate worship. Take a few moments to read and meditate on them. Also, we have seven different Scriptures in our morning worship, so they make a great resource for personal or family worship Sunday through Saturday. • Ukraine Relief. Thank you for your gifts to provide humanitarian aid to refugees fleeing Ukraine for Poland, Romania, and other bordering nations. You have given $1100 so far! The first $900 was forwarded to Send Relief, the humanitarian relief arm of our International Mission Board. The most recent $200 was forwarded to our Missouri Baptist Convention Disaster Relief team who is working with trusted partners to provide relief for Ukrainians fleeing their homeland. If you would like to give directly to that effort, click HERE for more information. One of the things they are doing is providing ready-to-eat meals consisting of a loaf of bread (baked by local Ukrainian bakeries), a jar of sausage spread (a local favorite), and a cake. This costs $2 and will feed a person for one day.
  • Monthly Member Meeting at 6 pm. Among other items of business, we will be voting on a motion presented last month to change the constitutional requirement of monthly business meetings to bi-monthly meetings (February, April, June, August, October, and December). If passed, we could still call member meetings as needed, but we would only be required to do so bi-monthly.

Pray for this as an outreach to the community of Sedalia. You can also join us as the concert will be livestreamed. More information on this later.
  • NEW CHURCH SIGN UPDATE: We received another gift of $1,000 this week towards a new message board sign to replace our current sign on the front lawn. That brings our current total above the $8,500 mark. Thank you for giving! If you would like to give to this effort, please designate funds "Church Sign."
