GREETINGS, EVERYONE! We have been in the deep freeze recently, but warmer days are just around the corner, or so I am told. Praise the Lord for sunshine and a little warmer temps today than yesterday.

NEW MEN'S DISCIPLESHIP GROUPS started this week.  Chances are good the word "discipline" does not strike a positive note in your heart. But when we speak of "spiritual disciplines," we mean habits or practices that aid in spiritual growth. Studying Disciplines of a Godly Man together should help form us into the spiritual leaders at home and church that the Lord would have us to be. It is not too late to sign-up for one of the groups. The book is available in the foyer for $14.

• Greg Dixon: Thursdays at 7 pm (not meeting this week, resume on Feb. 17)

THE LORD'S DAY (2/6/22)

• Bible Study for All Ages, 9:30 am. The new year is a great time to resolve to join a Bible Study group, of which we have several to choose from for adults. Age-graded Sunday School classes for nursery through high school also meet at the same time. Let's study God's Word together and be blessed!
• Worship Together at 10:40 in the Sanctuary. Sermon subject will be the Transfiguration of Jesus, Luke 9:29-36.
• Scriptures for Sunday. Here are the Scriptures we will be reading that will shape our corporate worship. Take a few moments to read and meditate on them. Also, we have seven different Scriptures in our morning worship, so they make a great resource for personal or family worship Sunday through Saturday. • Committee and Ministry Team Organizational Meeting, 4:30 pm in the Fellowship Hall. If you are on a church committee or ministry team, please make every effort to be there. This is our night to plan and organize ministry, and set goals and objectives for the year to help fulfill the church's mission to "make disciples who make disciples."

                 Committees and Teams who should plan to be present include:

• Monthly Member Meeting will be at 6 pm in the Great Room. This is a meeting at which all members are requested to be present as we celebrate ministry successes and consider opportunities, are challenged to advance the kingdom, take care of membership matters, and report on church finances.

• Superbowl Party Chili Cookoff, Sunday, Feb. 13 at 4:30 pm, kickoff at 5:30 pm. Bring chili and soups to be judged at 4 pm. Pre-game starts at 5, with kickoff at 5:30.
• Midland Ministries Glow in the Dark Night, Saturday, February 19, 4-8 pm. Nine Square, Gaga Ball, Basketball, and Pizza, Pizza, Pizza! At the gym of Keys Christian Fellowship, 6002 S. 9th St., St. Joseph. Grades 4 - 12 are invited to attend at no cost. Church van will leave FBC at 3 pm, return at 9 pm.

THIS DAY IN CHURCH HISTORY: On this day in 1631, Roger Williams arrived in Massachusetts. Five years later he will flee to Rhode Island after questioning the fusion of church and state in Massachusetts. At Providence, he will establish the first Baptist church in America and his writings on religious liberty will influence the development of religious tolerance in the colonies.
