GREETINGS, EVERYONE! Thanks to everyone who came out for the Superbowl Party last Sunday evening, and especially those who brought soups. This year's chili cookoff entries were notable for their absence this year. Out of the five entries in the soup/chili cookoff, none were chili! But it all tasted good, and we enjoyed good fellowship together. The game was merely an occasion to get together. Adults and kids played board games and worked puzzles together. The football-minded watched the game on the "Big Screen." At half-time, we were encouraged by Christian testimonies from professional football players via video. A big "thank you" to Pastor Kyle and Sue for coordinating the evening for us.

READ THROUGH THE BIBLE The Five-Day Bible Reading Plan is attached to this e-mail for your convenience. You may want to access additional resources to support your reading available at this website. BONUS: While we are on the subject of reading through the Bible, I want to share something with you from my own personal devotional reading of God's word not all that long ago. Psalm 119 was one of the readings in my effort to read the Bible through. I began this plan at the beginning of 2021, and I am just a little over halfway through. My "read the Bible through in a year" is becoming more like an 18 to 24-month project. But with the Lord's help, I am seeking to be more consistent. (I am not a fast reader, but when reading Scripture, it is doubtful we should be trying to read the text as quickly as possible. Rather, we ought to meditate on it, ruminate over it, and be marinated in it, as it were). But on that day, Jan. 6, I was struck by the word "revive" in Psalm 119. To renew, to make alive again, to resurrect, to awaken -- all could be synonyms for "revive." It is a common refrain. It is found in the following verses: 25b - "Revive me according to Your word" 37b - "...revive me in Your ways" 40b - "Revive me through Your righteousness" 88a - "Revive me according to Your lovingkindness" 93b - "...by [Your precepts] You have revived me" 107b - "Revive me, O LORD, according to Your word" 149b - "Revive me, O LORD, according to Your ordinances" 154b - "Revive me according to Your word" 156b - "Revive me according to Your ordinances" 159b - "Revive me according to Your lovingkindness" Ten times in Psalm 119 in the New American Standard Bible this word "revive" occurs. May it be my (and our) constant prayer personally, for our families, and for our church. See you in church! Grace and peace, Pastor Greg
