Holy Week

4/3/2021

Greetings, everyone! Thanks to all who came out in support of our weekday Holy Week services each noon hour this week. We had a tremendous time fellowshiping around God's word and pondering the events of the last week of Jesus' ministry prior to His crucifixion. Today, we considered John 18-19, and taught on the subject of "Jesus, Our Great High Priest." We have a big weekend coming up:

TODAY (FRIDAY)
  • Virtual Community Good Friday Service, 7 pm, access from our church website (Our choir providing special music; Judy McElwain, piano music; Paul Cockram, First Christian Church, preaching).
TOMORROW (SATURDAY)

  • Family Easter Good News Drive Through, Saturday, April 3, following city Easter Egg Hunt (about 10 am). The story of Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection will be told visually at ten stations on our church property as folks drive through and listen to a pre-recorded message broadcast from our FM transmitter to their car radios. For those who complete the drive and the worksheet to go with the stations, candy for the kids will be provided. The drive-through experience will take approximately 10 minutes for each care to go through.
***NOTE***Help is needed setting up for the GOOD NEWS DRIVE THROUGH beginning at 7 am Saturday morning. If you can help out it will be much appreciated!

THE LORD’S DAY
  • Easter Morning Breakfast, April 4, 8:30 am in the Fellowship Hall. Our Baptist Men will be cooking and serving breakfast for the whole church that day. Come out and bring a friend. If you would like to help, please contact Russ Wright at 816-724-0925 (call or text).
  • Bible Study for All Ages begins after the breakfast. Our regular time is 9:30, but we usually allow about 15 extra minutes for breakfast on Easter morning.
  • Resurrection Sunday Worship! Join us for this great service of worship at 10:40 as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead. Every Lord's Day is about the resurrection of Jesus, but we give special emphasis to that on Easter with the hymns, Scriptures, prayers, and sermon. An added bonus is the Choir will be back after a long absence to encourage us in worship. Scriptures that will frame our time of worship are:
    • Fighter Verses: James 1:2-3
    • Call to Worship: Psalm 18:1-2, 14-24
    • Old Testament: Isaiah 53:3-6
    • New Testament: Matthew 28:1-9
    • Assurance of Pardon: 1 Peter 2:24
    • Sermon Text: John 20:1-18
    • Benediction: Numbers 6:24-26
Take a few moments to read and meditate on these Scriptures in preparation for the Lord's Day worship service.

  • ZOOM "Sunday School" at 7 pm. Current study: James
WEDNESDAY
  • Midweek Service, in person and via ZOOM at 6:30 pm. Current study: Francis Schaeffers' Basic Bible Studies (This week we will look at Jesus Christ the Mediator: His Office of Prophet)
