GREETINGS, EVERYONE! Tomorrow is the Lord's Day. Take some time to prepare by reading the assigned Scriptures and listening to the worship songs we will be singing in worship.

SUNDAY EVENING WORSHIP IN THE PARK begins at 4:30 with children's games and activities, followed by cookout at 6 pm and brief worship service at 7 pm. Church will provide burgers, hot dogs, buns, drinks, and table service, along with ketchup, mustard, and relish, you bring everything else, including lawn chairs. Join us at Bartlett Park in Maysville (between Wilson and Macadee Streets, near the city water tower), and bring a friend!
This is our kick off for Vacation Bible School!

Here is what's coming up this week and beyond:

THE LORD'S DAY (7/17):
  • Bible Study for All Ages, 9:30 am. Nursery through Senior Adult, we have a group for you!
  • Worship Together at 10:40 in the Sanctuary. Sermon title will be "Your Response to Christ" from Luke 12:49-59, a message on the serious nature of our response to Christ in faith and repentance.
  • Scriptures for Sunday.  Here are the Scriptures we will be reading that will shape our corporate worship. Take a few moments to read and meditate on them as you prepare for worship tomorrow. Click anywhere on the link to see a printable version of these passages on biblegateway.com
    • Call to Worship: Psalm 19:1-6
    • Old Testament Reading: Amos 8:1-12
    • New Testament: Colossians 2:6-19
    • Prayer of Confession: Psalm 15
    • Assurance of Pardon: 1 John 1:9
    • Sermon Text: Luke 12:49-59
    • Benediction: Numbers 6:24-26
  • Baptist Catechism Questions and Answers (from www.desiringgod.org/articles/a-baptist-catechism). We return to our consecutive journey through the questions and answers of the Baptist Catechism this week as our affirmation of faith in the worship service.
    • Question 13: What is the work of creation?
      • Answer: The work of creation is God’s making all things [out] of nothing, by the word of his power and all very good.
      • Scripture: Genesis 1:1, 31; Hebrews 11:3; Exodus 20:11; Romans 4:17.
      • Comment: Before creation there was only God in the holy fellowship of the Trinity. Therefore his creation is always different from ours: we start with something.
    • Question 14: How did God create man?
      • Answer: God created man male and female, after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, with dominion over the creatures.
      • Scripture: Genesis 1:27-28; Colossians 3:10; Ephesians 4:24.
      • Comment: In saying that we were created after his image "in knowledge, righteousness and holiness," we do not mean we know all God knows, nor that we are a fountain of righteousness and holiness the way he is. We mean that we were capable of sharing his knowledge and righteousness and holiness in a relationship of trust and love unlike any other creature under the angels.
  • SONGS FOR WORSHIP THIS WEEK: Listen and sing along as you prepare your heart for worship.
    • HIS MERCY IS MORE
    • YET NOT I, BUT THROUGH CHRIST IN ME

FIGHTER VERSE: We are not currently reciting the Fighter Verses during the worship service, but I encourage you to do so in your Sunday School class and your Bible study group. Personally commit these verses to your heart, and I believe God will bless you as you do.
This week's verse is Psalm 91:3-4
"For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler
    and from the deadly pestilence.
He will cover you with his pinions,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness is a shield and buckler."
