Greetings, everyone! What a delight it has been to wake up every morning in Maysville, among the flock the Lord has appointed for us to serve! Walking home for lunch is something I thought I would never be able to do, but I did it a number of times this week. Just this morning, I needed to meet someone at the church briefly so I did. We are loving the home the Lord has provided, and I am amazed at how quickly things have taken shape and boxes have been emptied. Thanks, once again, to all who have helped us over the last several days. We appreciate and love you all very much!
TOMORROW is THE LORD’S DAY As we gather for worship tomorrow, take a few moments to read and meditate on these Scriptures that will shape the direction of our service: Call to Worship: Psalm 105:1-6 OT: 1 Kings 3:5-12 NT: Romans 8:26-39 Assurance of Pardon: Romans 8:1 Fighter Verses: Psalm 34:12-14 Benediction: Numbers 6:24-26 The sermon will be on "What are the Marks of a Gospel Church?" and will use selected Scriptures. This will be a message that will be the exposition of a doctrine rather than the exposition of one primary passage. Birthdays and Anniversaries: Tomorrow being the last Sunday of the month, we will recognize birthdays and anniversaries for June (or any month March through June if you missed out last month). We receive birthday offerings for the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, our network or homes for children who have been orphaned or are in foster care, and who also oversees The Lighthouse home for unwed mothers in Kansas City, and anniversary offerings for The Baptist Home, our multi-campus home for the aged with locations in Chillicothe, Ashland, Ozark, and Ironton. Visit the links provided for more information on these Missouri Baptist ministries. THIS WEEK Backyard Bible Clubs, Monday - Friday, July 27-31 Two clubs, two locations, two times, same material (Each club will be identical in content, so parents and children can pick the one they want to attend based on time, location, or convenience) West Club: 6:15-7:15 pm at 1003 Sycamore Drive (Dixons) East Club: 7:30-8:30 pm at 707 S. Sloan Street (Hacketts) Music, Games, Bible Story, Refreshments! All children aged 4 through 6th grade are invited to attend! See Dava Hackett for details. Disaster Relief Help Needed in St. Joe Due to flood waters earlier this week, SW St. Joseph experienced extensive flooding. They need many volunteers to help Monday through Friday with cleanup, muck-out, feeding, etc. See the attached updated flyer from our DOM Roger Brumley, or call him at 417-440-0425 if you would like to volunteer. COMING UP Sunday, August 2: Sunday School Teachers and Leaders Meeting at 9:30 am, the Great Room. We will discuss ideas and get input from our teachers and leaders about plans to return to Sunday School. Teachers should talk with your class members (and their parents if you teach preschool, children or youth) about when and how they would like to see us return to Sunday School. ICYMI: Last Sunday’s Message "A Vibrant and Healthy Church" Acts 2:41-47 (follow the link to sermon audio) Visit the church website www.fbcmaysvillemo.org for more up do date information, or find us on Facebook. BONUS One of the best modern hymns to encourage the church of Jesus Christ to be the church militant is O Church, Arise by Keith and Kristyn Getty. I'm almost sure I have shared this before, but it is worth the time it will take you to listen again. The lyrics appear on the screen for your convenience. See you in church! Grace and Peace, Pastor Greg
