GREETINGS, EVERYONE! As the much-needed and much-appreciated rains came this morning, our plans to work on siding and roofing the storage shed dissipated. The work will be postponed to later this week, very likely Thursday. If you are able to come out on Thursday morning, we would welcome you. Please see Ronnie Stahl for details.

MMO: The Mission/Vision team has set the goal for $1500 for the Rheubin L. South Missouri Missions Offering. So far we have received $590. We will receive the offering throughout the month of September. You can read more about it at this link.

THE LORD'S DAY (9/18):
  • Bible Study for All Ages, 9:30 am. Nursery through Senior Adult, we have a group for you!
  • Worship Together at 10:40 in the Sanctuary. We will be studying Luke 14:25-35 on The Cost of Being a Disciple of Jesus. The passage deals with the high cost of living as a disciple of Jesus, and includes three of the so-called "hard sayings of Jesus." I'm looking forward to explaining, illustrating, and applying this text in our corporate gathering tomorrow.
Scriptures for Sunday.  Here are the Scriptures we will be reading that will shape our corporate worship. Take a few moments to read and meditate on them as you prepare for worship tomorrow. Click anywhere on the link to see a printable version of these passages on biblegateway.com
    • Call to Worship: Psalm 113
    • Prayer of Confession: Psalm 78:8-9
    • Assurance of Pardon: 1 John 1:8-9
    • Scripture Reading: Exodus 4:1-17
    • Sermon Text: Luke 14:25-35
    • Benediction: 2 Corinthians 13:14

  • Baptist Catechism Questions 31 & 32 "On Christ's Humiliation and Exaltation"

Question 31: What do we mean by Christ’s humiliation?
Answer: By Christ’s humiliation we mean that he was born, and that in a low condition; that he was made under the law, and underwent the miseries of this life, the wrath of God, and the cursed death of the cross; that he was buried, and continued under the power of death for a time.
Scripture: Luke 2:7; Galatians 4:4; Isaiah 53:3; Luke 22:44; Matthew 12:40; 27:46; Philippians 2:8; Mark 15:45-6.

Question 32: What do we mean by Christ’s exaltation?
Answer: By Christ’s exaltation we mean his rising again from the dead on the third day, ascending up into heaven, sitting at the right hand of God the Father, and coming to judge the world at the last day.
Scripture: 1 Corinthians 15:4; Acts 1:11; Mark 16:19; Acts 17:31.

  • Kids' Club , 3:45 pm - 5:15 pm. This is a time of fun focused on the truth of Scripture and reinforced through games, music, and other activities for children K-6. It was great to see 25 children participating this week. In addition to our Bible lesson time, Linda Courtney and the rest of our Kids' Club Team led the children in baking cookies last Wednesday, applying a spiritual lesson along the way. It was great fun with a purpose!

Join with other faithful believers around God's word as we lift up prayers of praise, petition, thanksgiving, and confession to the Lord.
