Weekly Update

Greetings, everyone! As I write this Friday night, the sky has put on an amazing show as the storm passes through. I am reminded of the Lord's great and awesome power in His creation, and especially how Jesus demonstrated His authority over that creation when He spoke to the storm on the Sea of Galilee when it threatened to overturn the disciples' fishing boat. "Peace," said Jesus, "be still." And it went from a violent storm to calm and still in an instant. This is the King we serve and worship!

TODAY (Saturday, 8/8)

  • LOCAL MISSION TRIP: We have the opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus in serving those whose lives have been upended by flooding in southwestern St. Joe. I won't repeat what I shared in my previous email from Friday afternoon, except to say you are welcome to join us as we meet at the church at 7 am Saturday morning to go help hang sheet rock and put down sub-floor in some homes. Even if you can't do the physical labor part, you are welcome to join us as we talk to and interact with the home owners. Just let me know if you plan to go so I can let the coordinators know how many to plan for.
  • MACH 4 Men's Ministry: We will meet at Oak Christian Church, 9 miles west of Maysville on Hwy 6, at 6 pm for food, fellowship, and Christian encouragement from the word of God. All men and boys are invited to attend.

THE LORD’S DAY (8/9)

  • Sunday School Return Plan: Last Sunday morning, several of our Sunday School leaders met to discuss a plan for returning to Sunday School/Bible Study for All Ages. After discussion, it was determined that adult classes who desire to do so will be returning as early as this Sunday. Please contact your teacher or class leader to verify what your class plans to do. Children are welcome to attend their parents' class with them at this time. This is our "limited return." September 13 is the target date for all classes to return to session. This will be the Sunday after Labor Day weekend. Nursery, preschool, elementary, and youth classes will all be included in this "full return." We want to ensure that everyone feels as confident as possible in attending our small group Bible studies and age-graded classes for the children and youth. We will be sanitizing the classrooms, providing hand sanitizer and disinfectant in each classroom, and providing disposable masks for those choosing to wear them. Masks will be welcomed, but not required. Observe social distancing to the degree it is practicable. Avoid unnecessary physical contact. Use common sense precautions.
  • MONDAY EVENING "SUNDAY SCHOOL" over ZOOM will still be an option for those choosing to utilize it. Thanks to Pastor Kyle for leading us in this alternative class through the book of Ephesians. Join via ZOOM at 7 pm.
  • MONTHLY MEMBER MEETING will be at 6 pm in the Great Room.

ICYMI Last Sunday’s Message "Church Discipline and Forgiveness" Matthew 18:15-20

FIGHTER VERSES for this week are Psalm 34:17-18
When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears
and delivers them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is near to the brokenhearted
and saves the crushed in spirit.

See you in church!

Grace and Peace,

Pastor Greg
