GREETINGS, EVERYONE! Today is a "recovery" day for those of us who went to camp at Grand Oaks this week. Camp is great, but it can be a little tiring, so we need time to recover. Our group was among the last to leave the camp since Kyle checks out all the vehicles at the gate to make sure all the campers are going with the correct people for pickup, and I had some final paperwork in my role as camp director to complete. We arrived back in Maysville just shortly after 1:30 pm. We had a great time at camp, hearing God's word preached and taught, participating in some awesome planned recreational activities, and eating some delicious meals. Our theme was "Follow Jesus," and Camp Pastor Scott Gilbert (Frederick Blvd BC pastor) did an amazing job of bringing God's word on that theme each evening on the pre-teen level for our 10, 11, and 12 year old campers. Tanya Griffin (Stewartsville pastor's wife) was our Girls' Bible Study leader, and Zack Budd (Green Valley children's pastor) was our Boys' Bible Study leader. Both did an outstanding job of teaching the children who Jesus is, what He did, and what makes the difference for us today. Each day features a missions lesson, but our camp missionary fell ill on Sunday, so he was not able to join us for the week. The Lord provided excellent substitutes for that time of the day to share their experience in missions, and they were a joy to work with.
Thank you, church, for underwriting much of the cost to send campers to Grand Oaks. We may not know until glory the full impact of your generosity and kingdom-mindedness. THE LORD'S DAY (8/7):

ICYMI: Last Sunday's sermon audio "Be Encouraged in the Lord" Hebrews 10:16-25 by Joe Nogalski Please visit our YouTube Channel to see the edited service video. FIGHTER VERSE: We are not currently reciting the Fighter Verses during the worship service, but I encourage you to do so in your Sunday School class and your Bible study group. Personally commit these verses to your heart, and I believe God will bless you as you do. We have been learning verses from Psalm 91. This week's verses are Psalm 91:9-10 Because you have made the Lord your dwelling place-- the Most High, who is my refuge-- no evil shall be allowed to befall you, no plague come near your tent. See you in church! Grace and peace, Pastor Greg GREETINGS, EVERYONE! This Sunday, our pulpit guest will be Joe Nogalski. Joe is an experienced pastor with 34 years of vocational ministry experience, and 25 of those as a senior pastor. A couple of years ago, Joe resigned as pastor of Memorial Baptist in New Haven, MO, to take on the role previously occupied by Bob Springate as the area representative for Missouri Baptist Children's Home. With campuses in Bridgeton, Peculiar, and Mount Vernon, I believe the ministry of MBCH is among the most important ministries that we help fund through our gifts to the Missouri Baptist Convention and directly through our monthly "birthday" offerings. The lives of children and families are deeply affected by the gospel through the ministry of MBCH.
But allow me to share with you the critical situation described in a recent letter from MBCH president Russell Martin to us, and to all MBC-related churches: "We are in a critical situation at MBCH. Because of a lack of staff, we have had to close some of the houses on our campuses. It breaks my heart to know that we have outstanding programs, we have empty beds, and there are children referred to us who need our services, but we do not have the caring, Christian people to care for them. These are children who need to hear the gospel and we don't have the opportunity to share it with them. "MBCH is seeking to fill live-in and shift positions on our campuses. Live-in staff works one full week and then has the next full week off. The staff filing these positions can live almost anywhere as they commute to and from home just once a week. The live-in positions are great opportunities for married couples, although we also employ singles as well. Shift staff typically works eight or ten hours per shift. "Applicants must be at least 21 years old and be able to pass a background check. They don't need to have the answers to all of life's questions - we will provide the necessary training. We just need people to love these children like Jesus does. These positions are paid an hourly rate with a generous benefit package for full-time employees." If this is something that interests you, or you know of someone who might be qualified, please visit the MBCH website mbch.org or call their human resources department at 1-800-264-6224. What an amazing opportunity to make a difference in the lives of children for the sake of Christ and the Gospel! THE LORD'S DAY (7/31):

See you in church! Grace and peace, Pastor Greg GREETINGS, EVERYONE! As you prepare for the Lord's Day tomorrow, take a few moments to read through this update. On the traditional Christian calendar, this is Pentecost Sunday, commemorating the day when the Holy Spirit was poured out on the church in the fullness of power. Several of the Scriptures used in the service reflect that occasion. We rejoice that the risen and ascended Jesus sent the Holy Spirit, the third person of the Trinity, to be our comforter, counselor, and guide.
